I am a clinical health psychologist and have spent most of my career at the intersection of behavioral health and medicine. My mission is to improve access to behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and families, and help medical clinicians, primary care practices, and healthcare organizations design and implement integrated approaches that empower providers, facilitate patient engagement, improve quality and health outcomes, and promote care team wellbeing and work-life satisfaction.
From 2013-2023, I led the start-up and growth of a comprehensive clinical program within the Pediatric Physicians' Organization at Children's (PPOC), an independent practice association affiliated with Boston Children's Hospital. The PPOC is one of the largest pediatric primary care physician organizations in the country, with more than 600 medical and behavioral health clinicians, working in 80 community-based practices, in 105 locations throughout Massachusetts, which provide care to more than 400,000 patients. The program integrated over 125 behavioral health clinicians and psychiatric advanced practice nurses in offices across the state. As part of this work I provided operational and strategic consultation, training, and clinical support to managing partners, practice administrators, and multidisciplinary care teams as they integrated behavioral health and substance use services in their practices. This resulted in over 2,500 primary care behavioral health visits monthly, and dramatically improved rates of screening at annual well visits for mental health and substance use concerns. Additionally, I fostered external partnerships with state agencies and community service providers, resulting in improved access to care, and improved coordination of care. I also served as the Course Director for four CE/CME accredited education programs that provided approximately 60 hours of CE/CME annually.
As a management professional I’ve earned a reputation as a creative and innovative thought leader, a pragmatic and strategic thinker, with the ability to lead high-performing teams, facilitate productive cross-departmental collaborations, and build effective external partnerships. Those I have worked with value my dedication as a mentor, my forward-thinking vision, and my intuitive sense of how to drive change to achieve success. As a leader I work to demonstrate warmth, compassion, and caring to those I lead, and incorporate fun and humor along the way.
As a practicing clinical psychologist for over 30 years, I have provided consultation, diagnostic assessment and psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, adults, and families, in hospital, clinic, and school settings. As a digital health creator and clinical content expert, I've developed innovative tools for clients in the hospital, behavioral health, insurance, and pharmaceutical industries to increase patient engagement and self-management, improve clinical outcomes, and improve the efficiency of healthcare delivery.
